NORTH CEFALONIA
On the introduction of my blog, I referred to my spending summer vacations in Cefalonia. I have two houses there: one in South Cefalonia and one in North Cefalonia. Now I'm in the latter, which I prefer most. That's because it's much greener that the southern part of the island. However, South Cefalonia used to be like that too, until some decades ago, but all the fields were being burnt every year. Only to think that it wasn't until ten years ago that our mountain, Ainos, started getting greener again.
North Cefalonia is the place I always look forward to being. It's my favourite place ever and I take long walks in the wild every day, exploring new places and paths. I don't like walking there with anyone, apart from my long-term best friend, sweet music. I find it awesome to listen to my favourite tunes, while I explore the beauty of nature.
Today I spent 2 hours studying Finnish. I really love this language and although it's hard as shit, I enjoy it so much. My teacher tells me I'm doing rather good. She asked me to shoot a few photos of Cefalonian landscapes and send them to her. I shoot a photo of my favourite beach, Emplysi and sent it forward. She replied to me "aivan ihana meri" {really beautiful sea}. My teacher is great. And I always thought that Finns were cold-blooded guys who were drinking their ass off, but I was proved to be wrong. In fact, Finns are very friendly with you once they get to know you well, but they're very shy.
Anyway, I went walking down to Emplysi beach on foot. The way is an hour long, but thankfully there aren't any ascending paths. You can walk past a forest and there are even paths nearby, which you can follow but a) you have to be careful not to get lost (I've twice got lost: once in the mountain and once in the woods near home....thankfully both times I ended up only with a few bruises) and b) wearing flip-flops and shorts isn't really helpful in that case.
I always enjoy stopping in the middle of my way to Emplysi. There's a shop, where ceramic pottery is sold. My brother, Dionnysis, used to make ceramic pottery and our house is full of them. He even used to invite his friends at the backyard of my grandma's house in Anavyssos. He had built a thing that looked like a dragon's mouth and that's where he was baking his clay. The temperature would reach even 1000 Celsius degrees! Nearby we'd barbecue. Thus, I always had a thing about ceramic pottery and even wished that I could also learn how to do. However, due to other stuff I do, I'm not sure I really have the time to.
Before you reach the beach, the path starts to descend. There's where you can find the real beauty of nature. The place is full of firs and other huge trees. It's like you are in a jungle! And then, down to Emplysi, you can experience one of the two beaches of Cefalonia with the most crystal clear waters you've ever seen. I've been swimming so long that I thought I'd catch a cold.

This is Emplysi beach. I shot the picture after the sunset.
Those two photos are the backwoods from my house. I'll never stop loving this view.
P.S Visit Cefalonia. It's worth to spend your money travelling there.
