A LUCID DREAM OF SALT

When I woke up from the dream
I felt a weird serenity
I suddenly shivered and my hands were shaking
Remembering that a few minutes before
I was lying in the Ocean's breast

I was wondering alone under my bed sheet
Thinking it was no dream
But I was swimming like a real fish
Beneath the rough sea and the ships

At pitch-black midnight
I fled my house
On my pyjama dress still, barefoot
Running in alleys and paths
Huffing and puffing, not to be seen
And I reach the sea shore

There everything is quiet and I-
Silently undress myself
And I was swimming under the waves
Naked - until the break of dawn
And alone I was trying to
Knit a Poem
Full of mermaid colours
and Ocean Water

Hello everybody! It's been really long, since I posted anything in my blog. And it's not true that I didn't have time. The fact, though, is that I didn't know what to write about. Well, everything is going rather well and at the moment I'm occupied with writing Ingrid. And there's a great progress. However, there is a possibility that I start something else too and I post it here or in Wattpad, as Ingrid will NEVER be published or shown anywhere, for it is like my personal diary. On the other hand, I might post stories or poems, taken by Ingrid e.g. the Dead Tiger, Uaithnia, the Girl of the Seas etc.
Enough with that! Now, let's turn to this poem above. You know that I keep writing Poetry about the sea and the ocean and there's this whole Ocean Dreams topic that surrounds these Poems. And I won't conceal the fact that these Poems talk about exactly the dreams I used to have until I was 18, where I was swimming in the calm Ocean while outside it was midnight. I really long for these days that I had those dreams, for I haven't ever had them, since I went to University and through those Poems I sort of relive the experience. So, this Poem belongs in this category as well. I decided to write it in both languages; English and Greek, because I first wrote it in Greek and then translated it to English. I seldom write Poetry in Greek, as words are too long and I can't fit a whole idea in a single verse. However this time I had a strong urge to write something in Greek.
Because of the Poem's Romantic-era mood (lost in a dream, a child's innocence, loneliness, darkness, idyllic places and the Ocean), I hoped I could write in a less modern-like language i.e. Shakespeare. However I haven't scrutinised those Poems, although this is what I prefer reading at all times. Thus in the future I wish I can write in such language. That would feel more artistic and lyrical.
So, I leave you with this song, which hasn't itself inspired the Poem, but I was listening to it while writing.
(P.S. I'm going at her concert, b*tches!)
